Sleep and Relaxation

A calm, light-touch approach for children and adults

Periods of disrupted sleep can affect energy, mood and daily routines. Children may take time to settle or wake during the night, while adults may find it difficult to switch off. Sleep difficulties can have many causes, so ongoing or concerning symptoms should be discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional.

Craniosacral Therapy is a light-touch complementary therapy. Appointments provide a quiet, unhurried opportunity to rest while remaining fully clothed. Each visit is adapted to the individual’s age, health, preferences and comfort.

Some people choose Craniosacral Therapy as time for relaxation and general wellbeing alongside appropriate healthcare and healthy sleep routines. It is not a treatment for insomnia or another sleep disorder, and it does not diagnose or correct nervous-system dysfunction. Experiences vary and improved sleep cannot be guaranteed.

If sleep problems are persistent, worsening, causing significant daytime difficulty, or accompanied by breathing problems, unusual movements or other concerning symptoms, contact a GP or appropriate healthcare professional. Craniosacral Therapy should not delay or replace medical assessment or treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sleep & Nervous System

Can Craniosacral Therapy help with sleep difficulties?
Craniosacral Therapy does not diagnose or treat insomnia or another sleep disorder. Some people choose appointments as quiet time for relaxation and general wellbeing, but experiences vary and improved sleep cannot be guaranteed. Persistent, worsening or disruptive sleep difficulties should be discussed with a GP or appropriate healthcare professional.
Can Craniosacral Therapy help me feel calmer?
Appointments are quiet and unhurried, and some clients describe the experience as relaxing. Responses vary, however, and Craniosacral Therapy is not a treatment for anxiety, chronic stress or another mental-health condition.
Can children have Craniosacral Therapy appointments?
Children can have appointments when the approach is considered suitable for them. Sessions are adapted to the child’s age, health, communication and comfort, with a parent or carer present. Treatment is never forced, and a child can move, pause or stop at any time.
What if the sleep difficulties have continued for a long time?
Long-standing sleep difficulties can have many causes and should be assessed by an appropriate healthcare professional. Craniosacral Therapy may be considered as complementary relaxation support, but it should not replace investigation, diagnosis or recommended treatment.
What happens during your first appointment?
The first appointment begins with a conversation about sleep, general health, current care and any concerns you may have. If treatment is appropriate, the client remains fully clothed and rests in a comfortable position while gentle contact is used. Consent and comfort are checked throughout.
Is Craniosacral Therapy suitable for everyone?
Suitability depends on the individual’s health and circumstances. Please disclose medical conditions, recent injuries, operations, unexplained symptoms and current treatment before the appointment. Medical advice may be recommended before proceeding.
Does Craniosacral Therapy involve manipulation?
No. Craniosacral Therapy uses light contact and does not involve forceful manipulation. The approach is adapted to the individual’s age, preferences and comfort.
How many appointments might I need, and how do I book?
There is no standard number of appointments because needs and experiences vary. After the initial visit, you can decide whether another appointment feels appropriate. You can book online or contact Marissa first if you would like to discuss suitability.
