Children’s Emotional Wellbeing

A calm, child-led approach

Children can experience worries, emotional ups and downs, difficulty adjusting to change or periods when they feel unsettled or overwhelmed. When this begins to affect family life, friendships or school, parents may understandably look for gentle ways to support their child’s overall wellbeing.

Craniosacral Therapy is a light-touch complementary therapy. Appointments provide a calm, unhurried environment in which your child can rest, move, talk or pause whenever they need to. Every appointment is adapted to your child’s age, preferences and comfort, with a parent or carer remaining present throughout.

Some families choose Craniosacral Therapy as time for relaxation and general wellbeing alongside the support their child may already receive. It is not a psychological treatment and does not diagnose or treat anxiety, behavioural difficulties, emotional regulation problems or other mental-health conditions. Experiences vary from child to child, and no particular outcome can be guaranteed.

If your child’s anxiety is persistent, worsening or affecting school, family life or friendships, please speak to their GP, school or an appropriate children’s mental-health professional. Craniosacral Therapy should not delay or replace medical, psychological or safeguarding support.

What Families Say

Frequently Asked Questions

Children’s Emotional Wellbeing

Can Craniosacral Therapy help children with anxiety or worries?
Craniosacral Therapy does not diagnose or treat anxiety or other mental-health conditions. Some families choose it as a gentle opportunity for relaxation and general wellbeing alongside appropriate medical, educational or psychological support. If your child’s anxiety is persistent, worsening or affecting everyday life, please speak to their GP, school or an appropriate mental-health professional.
Can Craniosacral Therapy support emotional regulation?
Appointments offer a calm, unhurried environment in which your child can rest and feel supported. Some parents describe their child as relaxed after an appointment, but experiences vary and Craniosacral Therapy is not a treatment for emotional or behavioural conditions.
Can I stay with my child during treatment?
Yes. A parent or responsible carer is required to remain present throughout the appointment. Your presence can help your child feel comfortable and gives us time to discuss any questions or observations together.
Does my child need to remain still during the appointment?
No. Appointments are child-led and can be adapted around your child’s comfort. They may move, talk, change position or ask to pause or stop at any time.
What happens during my child's first appointment?
The first appointment begins with a relaxed conversation about your child’s health, wellbeing and any concerns you would like to discuss. If treatment is suitable, the light-touch session proceeds at your child’s pace. Consent is ongoing, and the appointment can be changed or stopped whenever necessary.
Is Craniosacral Therapy safe for children?
Craniosacral Therapy uses light touch and does not involve forceful manipulation. However, suitability depends on your child’s individual health and circumstances. Please disclose relevant medical conditions, symptoms and current care before treatment. Seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional if you are uncertain whether complementary therapy is suitable.
Does Craniosacral Therapy involve manipulation?
No. Craniosacral Therapy does not involve forceful manipulation. It uses a gentle, light-touch approach adapted to your child’s age, preferences and individual needs.
How many appointments might my child need, and how do I book?
There is no standard number because every child and family is different. We can discuss whether another appointment would be appropriate after the first visit, without requiring a treatment programme. You can book online or contact me before arranging an appointment.
